For Urgent Dental Care

Royal Dental Hospital
03 9341 1000 or call 000 for all out of hours emergencies

In an emergency you should call 000 or the Royal Dental Hospital. Most dental pain can be handled by our team but if the pain becomes unbearable you may need to seek urgent attention.
Remember to always consider whether the emergency is urgent or not and then contact the appropriate professional to help you. Local dentist, Royal Dental Hospital or emergency room, 30 minutes could be the difference! DentalOne aims to prioritise all dental emergencies.

Evening and Weekend Emergency Care

Dental emergencies don’t always happen during business hours, and we understand how stressful it can be when urgent care is needed late at night or on the weekend.

At DentalOne, our clinics offer extended availability for urgent cases wherever possible. If you experience a dental emergency after hours, please:

  • Call our main emergency line 1300 066 427 (13 000 NO GAP) – your call will be directed to our team to help assess your situation.
  • After hours and open Saturdays – we are open during the week until 7pm and from 8am until 6pm on a Saturday. We can take calls and appointments can be made for the next day. If you reach us or if the matter is urgent after these hours, we advise you to go to the Royal Dental Hospital.
  • Sunday or late evenings – if immediate treatment is required and our clinics are closed, we recommend attending the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne or calling 000 in life-threatening situations.

We aim to see all urgent cases first thing the following morning when clinics reopen, ensuring you receive priority care. This way, you have peace of mind knowing exactly where to turn, no matter what time a dental emergency strikes.

Frequently Asked Questions for a Broken Tooth

Most broken teeth don’t need hospital care. Hospitals usually only give pain relief or antibiotics, but they don’t repair the tooth. At Dental One, our dentists can actually fix the problem. If you have heavy bleeding, facial trauma or a broken jaw, then a hospital is best — otherwise, come straight to us for same-day emergency care.

If your tooth has broken in half, it’s important to see us urgently. In many cases, we can save the tooth with a filling or a crown. If it can’t be saved, an extraction may be the best option. The quicker you come in, the more options we’ll have. We’ll always explain your choices before starting treatment.

Yes. Most chipped teeth can be repaired in a single visit at Dental One. Depending on the size of the chip, we might smooth the edges, place a filling, or fit a crown. You’ll leave knowing your tooth is stable and comfortable again.

Our next appointment for clear aligners will depend on what is available in which of our 8 locations but we aim to see you as soon as we can. After your first appointment and agreeing to your treatment plan you can expect to receive your clear aligners within two to three weeks.

Rinse gently with warm water and avoid chewing on the broken tooth. If you’re in pain, take ibuprofen or paracetamol as directed. Stay away from hot, cold or sweet foods that can trigger sensitivity. Most importantly — call Dental One now. We’ll make sure you’re seen as soon as possible.
