DVA Dentist Melbourne
Dental Care for Veterans and DVA Card Holders
If you hold a DVA Gold Card or White Card, you may be eligible to receive dental treatment through the Department of Veterans’ Affairs.
At DentalOne, we help eligible veterans access dental care across our Melbourne clinics. Whether you need a check-up, clean, filling, denture assessment, crown assessment or help with a dental concern, our team can guide you through the DVA dental process clearly.
When you book, let our team know you are a DVA patient. We will ask whether you have a Gold Card or White Card and request your DVA card number so we can help prepare for your appointment.
What DVA Dental May Cover
DVA dental cover depends on your card type, clinical needs and DVA eligibility rules.
A DVA Gold Card generally covers clinically necessary dental treatment to help maintain your oral health. This may include regular check-ups, cleans, fillings, crowns, dentures and treatment for dental injuries or conditions.
A DVA White Card covers dental treatment only when the treatment relates to an accepted service-related condition. If you have a White Card, your dentist may need to confirm whether the dental treatment is connected to your accepted condition before treatment can be claimed through DVA.
Some treatments may require prior approval from DVA before treatment begins.
You May Be Due for a DVA Dental Check
You may benefit from booking a DVA dental assessment if:
If you are unsure, book an appointment and bring your DVA card. We can assess your oral health and explain the next step before treatment proceeds.
DVA Denture Assessments
Dentures do not last forever. Over time, your gums and jaw can change shape, which may affect the way your dentures fit.
If your dentures are loose, rubbing, worn, cracked or more than 6 years old, you may be eligible for a DVA denture assessment. DVA may cover denture replacement every 6 years, unless your dentures have been relined in the past year or your dentist recommends replacement sooner based on clinical need.
DVA may also cover denture relines every 2 years for eligible patients.
If your dentures are making it harder to eat, speak or feel comfortable, book a denture assessment with DentalOne.
DVA Gold Card vs White Card Dental Cover
DVA Gold Card
A DVA Gold Card generally provides broader dental cover for clinically necessary treatment. This may include preventative, restorative and denture-related care, subject to DVA rules and clinical assessment.
DVA White Card
A DVA White Card only covers dental treatment linked to an accepted service-related condition. This means the treatment must relate to the condition accepted by DVA.
If you are unsure whether your dental concern is covered, our team can help you understand the process and what information may be needed.
How the DVA Dental Process Works
01
Book Your Appointment
Call DentalOne or book online. Let us know you are a DVA patient and tell us whether you have a Gold Card or White Card.
02
Provide Your DVA Details
We will ask for your DVA card number. If possible, bring your physical card to the appointment so we can confirm the card type and details needed for claiming.
03
Attend Your Assessment
Your dentist will assess your teeth, gums, dentures and oral health. If you have a specific concern such as loose dentures, broken teeth or pain, let the dentist know.
04
Treatment Plan Prepared
Your dentist will create a treatment plan based on your clinical needs. We will review the treatment against the relevant DVA schedule and requirements.
05
Treatment or Approval
If treatment is eligible and does not require prior approval, it may be completed on the day where clinically appropriate. Otherwise, our team will help prepare the required information for DVA approval.
06
Claiming Through DVA
For eligible treatment, DentalOne claims through DVA. If any treatment is not covered or may involve an out-of-pocket cost, this will be discussed before treatment begins.
What to Bring to Your Appointment
Your card is helpful because DVA claiming can sometimes require details such as middle initials. Having the card available helps reduce delays.
Common DVA Dental Treatments
Depending on your eligibility, card type and clinical need, DVA dental treatment may include:
Some services have limits or require prior approval. Your dentist will explain this after your assessment.
