If you’re looking for a quick, safe way to brighten your smile, Dental One’s Zoom in-chair teeth whitening could be the solution for you. Zoom professional teeth whitening is one of the most popular cosmetic dentistry treatments in Australia, and it can be used to whiten even the most stained or discoloured teeth, sometimes lightening them by several shades for a whiter-looking smile.

Zoom is an in-chair treatment performed at our dental clinics under the supervision of your dentist. This system has a variable intensity setting that allows each treatment to be customised for the individual patient’s needs, as well as desensitisers to help protect your teeth, help reduce sensitivity and improve comfort. In many cases, the treatment can be completed in just one hour—perfect if you want to get rid of pesky stains before a big event like a wedding or graduation.

Our dentists will carry out your professional teeth whitening treatment in the comfortable surroundings of our dental clinic. We will first check that your teeth and gums are healthy and confirm that you are a good candidate for teeth whitening. Then we explain what the procedure involves, what to expect and how to take care of your teeth afterwards.

In order to protect your gums, we place a rubber shield or gel on them before your treatment begins. Then we will fit a custom-made tray over your teeth that contains the active ingredient hydrogen peroxide or carbamide peroxide. The Zoom Advanced Power Chairside Lamp is then used to accelerate the whitening process and make sure your enamel surface is brightened. This process might be repeated three to four times throughout the treatment, which takes about an hour. You will notice results straight away, but it’s also normal for your teeth to continue to whiten after the appointment

Although the results of teeth whitening treatments are not permanent, our dentist will work with you to develop a plan to maintain your new, whiter smile. We can schedule repeat treatments or provide take-home kits to help you maintain the results. The length of results from teeth whitening varies from person to person, however we expect these to last for six months or longer depending on lifestyle factors. You can help maintain this by avoiding common sources of stains and with a good daily hygiene routine.

Most people won’t experience any negative side-effects from teeth whitening. However, some people may experience sensitive teeth, gums, or a sore throat for a few days after treatment. This is common and should go away within a couple of days. If it doesn’t, we recommend booking an emergency appointment with us to have your dentist check it out!

We recommend delaying teeth whitening procedures if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
We recommend 16 years of age as the minimum for undergoing teeth whitening, this will be subject to a parent or guardians consent.
