Implant Retained Dentures
What is an implant retained denture?
An implant retained denture is a removable denture that is securely attached to titanium implants placed into the jawbone. These dentures offer a stable, long-lasting solution, providing maximum comfort and a secure fit for eating, drinking, and speaking.
What is involved in the process?
Step 1 β Consultation
A consultation is required with one of our experienced dentists. During this consultation, your bone level and suitability for the procedure is assessed, to confirm this with the most amount of accuracy a 3D scan (CBCT) of your jaw is taken.
You will receive a written treatment estimate following this appointment with all costs detailed, including the denture.
Step 2 β Implant Placement
At this visit implants will be placed in the required spaces that will later hold your denture/s on top.
You will have a level of discomfort following this procedure, however a full explanation of home care will be provided to you before you leave the clinic.
Once the implants have been placed, there is a period of 8-12 weeks of healing time before any further treatment is done.
Step 3 β Review and uncovery
Once it has been confirmed that the implants have fused with the bone, the implants are exposed through the gum tissue and small abutments are placed either at that or a subsequent appointment.
These abutments assist with the retention of the final denture.
An impression of your mouth is taken and construction of the denture is started.
Step 4 β Denture construction
